One of the most common drawbacks is to get lost. If in some cases losing the route can also reserve some pleasant surprises and make us discover new and unexpected places, very often, this is nothing but an annoying inconvenience that can ruin our travel plans.
The RV navigator is, therefore, an indispensable accessory for any camper, especially for those who love to discover new places while always having the situation under control.
Right below we had listed out the best Rv Gps.
Buyer Guide to Choose Rv Gps
Updated Database
A satellite navigator for campers is not the same as a car navigator, and the main difference is that the first can be calibrated according to the length, weight, and size of the camper so that it consequently proposes coherent and practicable maps.
Wi-Fi connectivity is equally important because it will allow the navigator to update all information periodically without the need to be connected to the PC. Any extra features, such as the reporting of free parking and refreshment points for campers and caravans, should not be underestimated.
Road and Traffic Signaling
One of the current needs for a driver is that the navigator reports the live traffic conditions and the presence of speed cameras, curves, accidents, etc. The device must have an intelligent system that scans the various information and signals so that you can change your itinerary in case of need or inconvenience at the last minute.
Bluetooth Function and Voice Recognition
The Bluetooth function should be a constant because it will allow you to connect your browser to your mobile phone and answer calls, view notifications such as SMS, emails, social network posts, and so on.
It is optimal so as not to divert attention from the steering wheel and to be able to drive in total safety. The “Speak & Go” function is handy because it allows you to interface directly with the system without having to type anything.
Design, Screen and Accessories
The screen size should be greater than 12 cm to be seen without problems while driving, preferably in high resolution. The style of the design is always very subjective, but it is good to consider an underlying, subtle shape that can be attached to the dashboard without difficulty.
The possible presence of the suction cup and the support inside the package is one more reason for the purchase. Some navigators have a video camera behind to resume the route but which can be particularly useful during parking operations, frontal accidents, or warning of dangers. Despite its presence showing a higher cost, it could make a difference in a weighted purchase.
Types of Rv Gps Trackers
As we have just said, GPS is a system that allows you to keep track of geographical coordinates in terms of latitude and longitude. It can be used on any object, means of transport, person or animal, and has minimal costs.
Very often, to take advantage of the satellites with which the GPS trackers communicate, it is not necessary to subscribe to any subscription.
In light of the above, it is evident that there are many different types of GPS trackers intended for different users and needs: there are GPS trackers for people and things, GPS trackers for animals, cars, and so on.
The list could go on and on. To clarify the ideas about it, let’s try to list the main types of trackers on the market for both consumer users and professionals and analyze their most essential characteristics. It will take very little, promised!
Satellite Navigators
The primary type of use of GPS trackers is with satellite navigators. As you undoubtedly know, these are electronic devices that, based on a series of maps, manage to calculate the route to be taken to move from one point to another, all using the position of the vehicle received from the satellites.
I told you about it abundantly in my buying guide dedicated to satellite navigators. In this post, however, I will focus on trackers for things, people, and animals. Now even smartphones and tablets include GPS modules, and this allows you to have complete and efficient map services such as those of car navigators directly in your pocket.
Just install one of the many map apps available online, even for free, and you’re done! If you want to know more, take a look at my post on free surfers.
Gps Locators for People / Things (GPS Anti-Theft)
The operation of the GPS locators for people/things (or GPS anti-theft) is very similar to that of satellite navigators, but the purposes are different. Devices of this type determine the position of the object or person via the satellite and transmit it to other devices, usually servers, via SMS or via GSM / UMTS network.
They work, therefore, through a SIM card or a data connection. These GPS trackers are useful. Therefore, whenever you need to know the position of a body/person/vehicle from another location, therefore, to locate lost or illegally stolen objects or people.
Satellite theft detectors are typically installed inside the vehicle and are powered by the same battery as the latter. But you can always buy a portable external locator, equipped with its battery precisely as it happens with a traditional smartphone.
They are useful for those who go hiking and want to memorize the route, as well as to trace an object or person. If you buy a portable GPS tracker, therefore, you must carefully evaluate the battery capacity, which must be at least 1000 mAh to remain active throughout the day.
Furthermore, when the battery has run out, you will have to recharge your device traditionally, just as if it were a smartphone. Some super-cheap trackers are based on Bluetooth technology and do not include any GPS modules.
This means that they have a minimal range of action (between 20 and 50 meters) and can only be used to know when an object or person is too far away from their current position.
Gps Locators for Animals
Many people use GPS trackers to maintain contact with their pets, dogs, and cats in the first place. GPS trackers for animals are small transmitters to be attached to the collar that allows you to pinpoint the exact location of your dog or cat, directly on the map displayed on your smartphone or tablet.
Usually, animal trackers have meager costs (around 30-40 euros) and work via SIM card and smartphone or tablet. You download the app and start viewing the animal’s position on the digital map.
Some of these position detectors send a small vibration to the animal: be careful, however, because this category of products could hurt your dog or cat or, in any case, make it nervous, and for this, I will not treat it in the guide.
There are other trackers, then, based on QR code: the animal carries a tag with law, and, in case of loss, whoever identifies it can go back to the owner by scanning the code. Even these products, however, are not recommended because it can be quite rare to find people so willing and aware of the functioning of QR code technology to come to the rescue in similar cases.
Often devices of this kind require the subscription of payment with a monthly fee, usually free for the first 6 or 12 months. The most famous trackers for dogs and cats are Chipolo, Petpointer, Girafus Pet Tracker, T-Pets, Kippy Vita, Tim tag, Ubisafe Pet, Trackimo, Tractive, and others.
