Generally, you buy a folding mattress because, occupying a small footprint, it can be kept at home in a small space and used when a guest arrives who decides to spend the night there.

In this way, they can always be used and by the whole family, by adults as well as by boys who in their bedroom can sit down to play their favorite video game or to research with the tablet or laptop.
For those who want to save money, it is an ideal solution because these mattress chairs have a lower price than the traditional ones. Of course, you cannot expect the same comfort guaranteed by a well-padded classic armchair, but some models, as confirmed by those who have used them, are surprisingly comfortable, both when used as mattresses and as sofas.
However, you need to pay attention to some details such as, for example, the dimensions. On the market, you can find single and double folding sofas, but the measures are not standard.
As these products are often purchased for children, the reduced length and width may not be suitable for an adult who stays to sleep. This is why a large mattress, 10 cm long and extra wide, could make the difference. Another detail to consider is the quality of the materials used.
Materials
If you do not want to make a wrong impression by creating your guest sleep on a floppy and unstable bed, you should focus on a folding mattress made with quality materials.
All the more so if you decide to buy a versatile model that you will use to sit even every day. The use of inferior materials will cause the unpleasant sensation of sinking, doing the reading, or surfing the Internet less pleasant, for example.
Quality padding is essential to ensure solidity over time; the mattress should not lose its shape after one night or after prolonged use and should prevent the back from touching the slats. The best materials are those that ensure the right mix of softness and elasticity.
If, on the other hand, you think of using the mattress only to go camping a few days a year and you are interested not so much in comfort as in savings, compare prices, and you will see that there are plenty of economic models that are right for you.
Removable and Compact Size
Folding mattresses are not always supplied with the cover when they become armchairs, and, therefore, it may be necessary to purchase it separately.
The best beds should, however, have one or two hinges on the sides and be removable to be able to wash the cover in the washing machine and always ensure maximum hygiene.
If you don’t have a lot of space at home, a folding mattress that, when closed, proves to be too bulky may not be for you. The strength of some models lies precisely in the limited space that allows you to store them, for example, in the wardrobe or under the bed.

They are often with “pocket” springs: that is, the springs are individually inserted in a fabric bag, which avoids “friction” between the springs.
