What Is a Sand Filter?
Sand filters are the most used elements for the filtration of water with low or medium loads of contaminated items, which require retention of particles up to twenty microns in size. The particles found in the water are retained during their passage through the sand filter.

What Is the Swimming Pool Water Cycle?
What we call “cycle” is the passage of all the water in the pool through the filter. The duration of this process changes according to several factors: the size of the swimming pool (therefore, based on the quantity of water), the power of the pump and the capacity of the filter itself during the process.
When choosing the maintenance components for our swimming pool, all these factors must be taken into account, so that the duration of a complete cycle is not excessive. Usually, it takes 8 hours for a residential pool.
How Do Sand Filters Work?
Sand filters clean the water they process from impurities: in this way, the water gets rid of microbes. The water arrives at the purifier through pipes and, once filtered, it is sent back to the pool thanks to a pump that makes the whole mechanism work.
Sand filters work in a closed circuit. The water enters the ducts located on the side, and the bottom then passes through the sand filter, where the particles remain trapped by the silica crystals: the water then comes out clean. Once cleaned, there will be no hygiene problems.

How Long Should I Keep the Filter in The Swimming Pool?
The power of the filters you are going to install is measured in m3 / h or the equivalent in litres. As you know, 1m3 equals 1000 litres of water. For this, a pump with a flow of 8m3 / h will be able to filter water and circulate up to 8000 litres of water per hour. You need to calculate the volume and divide it by the flow.
In this way, a swimming pool of 8 × 4 meters, with a depth of 1.5 meters, will have a total capacity of 48000 litres. If your pump has a flow of 10m3 / h, it will take 4.8 hours to clean the pool thoroughly. If the capacity increases, you will need a shoe with a higher power.
