Unfortunately, we do not always realize how important it is to have a good, well-organized dustbin available, and we often fall back on the purchase of a low-priced and inferior quality item.
It is not necessary to choose the best brand on the market, also because there are lesser-known brands that offer many right quality products at low costs.
Closing System and Capacity
Make sure you choose a model of a trash can that has a practical lid to open and close in order to dispose of waste quickly, and that is airtight and well insulating to avoid the escape of unpleasant odors.
On the market, there are waste collection bins with different opening systems in addition to the manual one. For example, you can find baskets equipped with practical pedals that will open the buckets by applying a simple pressure of the foot on the mechanism.
If, on the other hand, you prefer a more technological dustbin, then you will have to opt for a model with an automated lid, which will open as soon as you approach the integrated photocell. The latter type is a bit more expensive, but it is perfect if you don’t want to have contact with the surface of the bin.

Consequently, you need to be sure that you have the space available otherwise, even in the case of separate collection, it will be better to focus on the individual rubbish bins and arrange them as best at home or outdoors as needed.
Tilting Bin
Very useful, especially for those who have the habit of keeping a dustbin under the kitchen sink, it is the tilting one. It basically works like a drawer. The container is pulled out if necessary and then disappears. Such a dustbin is space-saving because it also has a shelf useful for placing detergents.
Trash Cans with Pedal
There are dustbins equipped with a pedal thanks to which it is possible to lift the lid. It is undoubtedly a hygienic solution because it avoids touching the container with your hands.
Choose the Right Size
A dustbin must be chosen, taking into account also the dimensions. It is not just a question of space available. There are wastes that occupy more volume than others. Think of plastic: there are containers, such as those of detergents, rather large. Therefore the dustbin fills up quickly.
Keep in mind, then, that the separate collection provides pre-established days to throw the various types of trash, and the plastic could remain in the house, to accumulate, even for a week.
Decrease the Volume of Waste
Especially in the case of paper and plastic, it is possible to decrease the volume of objects thrown away. It is a recommended choice because it allows you to recover space inside the bin: just crush what you throw.
