Buying Guide to Select the Best Della Ice Makers
In our buying guide, we try to clarify what you need to know before buying a product of this type. We also focus on the best ice machines: find the reviews in a ranking that rewards the five most convincing.
Domestic or Professional
The first aspect to take into account is your need for ice production, and the choice of the right appliance depends on the number of cubes you need every day.
If you simply want to cool a bottle of sparkling wine or refresh a drink, you can quickly go to a product for domestic use. If, on the other hand, you need a much higher level of production, because you own a bar or restaurant, the choice must undoubtedly fall on a professional appliance.
The most significant difference lies above all in the size and power, because the professional models on the market must be able to produce large quantities of cubes (up to a maximum of 30 kilos per day) and withstand much higher frequencies of use. At the same time, those from home can secure a dozen cubes in 10 minutes.
The intended use also impacts the chosen materials, because the cheaper household models are subject to less stress and wear and therefore often have plastic as the main element of their structure. On the other hand, the professional machines of the best brands are mainly in stainless steel.
In both cases, the materials used must be non-toxic, suitable for coming into contact with food and totally odourless. It depends on the goodness and naturalness of the cubes that you can obtain.
The Dimensions of The Machine and The Cubes
A significant discriminant is related to the space you have in the kitchen because this type of appliance often has quite essential dimensions.
Therefore, carefully consider where to place it, knowing that its use will be more frequent during the summer months than in the winter months, in which, if space is scarce, it could eventually give way to another device.
Of course, we are talking about machines for domestic use because, in the case of professional ones, it is easier for the need to produce ice to be constant over the twelve months.
The dimensions to be taken into account are not only those of the machine but also those of the cubes because some models can produce them with different shapes and sizes, to adapt to different types of cocktails or simply to satisfy aesthetic tastes.
Easy to Disassemble
Like all appliances that interact with food and products that are ingested, the ice machine also requires a minimum of maintenance and cleaning after use. So choose a model that is rather simple to disassemble so that you can rinse the pan under running water if not even put it in the dishwasher.
As for the noise during the operation, this is a price to pay because it is inherent in the type of product. Sure some models are quieter than others but, in general, both the cooling and ejection phases of the cubes tend to be rather noisy.
If you compare the prices, you will notice that the size, speed and quantity of cubes produced affect to the point that the cost can vary from a few tens of euros to a thousand. Carefully weigh the desired level of production so you will be sure not to buy an oversized or undersized model.
For Home Use
Ease of use. This is the key to understanding the ice machine we have selected for you. Having it at home means you can no longer run the risk of running out of ice.
The production, it must be said, is limited and consequently is absolutely inadequate for professional use. In short, if you have to make ice for your bar, you will have to look for a different appliance.
KB15 produces cubes in a time between 6 and 12 minutes in three different sizes. Many users believe that the time to create the hubs is excessive.
By setting the maximum size, just nine cubes are obtained in 12 minutes. Of course, the times are decidedly shorter compared to those required by an ordinary freezer, but we would have expected higher speed.
Programmable
Keep in mind that the machine, to produce the cubes, needs to be started at least three hours before, to cool correctly. The good news is that being equipped with a timer, you can program the ignition: in this way when you return home, perhaps after a hard day at work, you can prepare a drink and relax.
The machine is equipped with a display: in reality, it is small, but it is equally valid that the dimensions are sufficient to demonstrate the necessary information such as the size of the selected cubes.
Avoid leaving the cubes inside the tank for a long time because they will melt (a lot also depends on the temperature outside). However, the water is not wasted because it can again be transformed back into ice.
Compact
The ice machine, in our opinion, is made of convincing materials. Another not secondary aspect is the compact dimensions that allow you to find a place almost everywhere. Furthermore, being light, it can be transported without problems, and potentially you can have ice in any home if you need it, just have the availability of a power outlet.
Cleaning does not present difficulties, after all, it is added just plain water. Only dry it, perhaps leaving it open for a few hours to ventilate it and avoid the formation of mushrooms.
