The kitchen scale has always been a fundamental accessory in all homes. For this very reason, there are many different types on the market, suitable for all budgets and all needs.
But how do you choose the kitchen scale appropriate for us among all the models present? The first factor to consider is related to the type of size you want to buy.
Concerning this aspect, we have two possible alternatives: the analog or mechanical kitchen scale and the digital kitchen scale. So let’s look in detail at what these two types differ.
Flow
A fundamental criterion is a total weight of what you want to weigh. We must not limit the evaluation to the article that is most frequently weighed.
A scale can have a maximum capacity of 100 kg. But it can bear additional weight before it is damaged; usually, quality balances guarantee up to an overload equal to 150% or even 200% of the maximum capacity.
We know that in daily use, operators drop the products on the scales, thus increasing the force exerted (also known as dynamic load). In this way, the same 100 kg scale could be damaged if the amount were dropped from a few meters high directly on the pan.
One way to make sure that the range can withstand the loads placed on it is to buy a scale that has twice the capacity compared to the weight that is usually measured.
A 100 kg scale is best suited for accurately weighing 50 kg loads. Although a range with a larger capacity may initially cost more, it will undoubtedly be more suitable to meet the needs of your business and to last longer while preserving your company assets.
Unit of Measure
Another aspect to consider is: which unit of measurement will you use for your operations? Pounds, kg, ounces? The group of measures used will also vary based on what you want to weigh: Avoirdupois – Pound, ounce, ton, grains, etc. Metric – Kilogram, gram, milligram, ton (metric) Jewelry – Wheat, pennyweight (dwt), Troy ounce (oz), carat (ct), etc. Customized units In some cases.
The weighing group can be established by law; in others, it can be decided according to the needs of your particular operation. Balance Calibration Certification
In Italy, there are centers accredited by the ACCREDIA body (calibration service in Italy) that issue calibration certificates for scales based on accreditation and established protocols and procedures. For calibration, weights and referable masses must be used.
A measurement (for example, the value of importance) is traceable when it is possible to demonstrate the reference to national or international samples. This reference is obtained through an uninterrupted chain of comparisons (traceability chain).
Size, Shape, and Movements of The Object
What you weigh does not always have a standard shape and secure handling. Many of the items measured with a scale do not require special considerations, but your process may need additional features of the extent to allow accurate weighing.
Software / Management of Weighing Data
Once the appropriate flow rate and resolution have been established for your needs, the next step is to decide on the weighing modes or the most suitable scale software depending on the application.
