Indispensable for those who work with iron, MIG welding has been in use since the times of the Second World War. It is a continuous wire process where the protection of the weld pool is ensured by a gas that spills onto the piece to be welded.

The use of gas has one advantage in particular: it allows us to operate without slag. The welding machine market is characterized by a great wealth of offerings, able to satisfy the needs of hobbyists as well as professionals.

Right here are some of the best MIG welders models that are present below.

What to Look for Before Buying MIG welders?

Professional or Amateur?

Answering this question is very important because it gives the measure of the budget to be used. Whoever earns a living with a welding machine will necessarily have to make use of a professional model and therefore spend a lot of money.

A hobbyist, on the other hand, would do well to choose such an intense but unpretentious device. The best brands in the sector have a line dedicated to amateurs, and these are machines that give good results.

The Mask Must Be of Good Quality

When preparing to buy a welding machine, you have to take into account what it offers in terms of accessories. The presence of a projective mask is undoubtedly welcome, as long as it is of good quality.

It often happens that this element is included in the package, but it often happens that it is disappointing. We believe that the mask is vital and if not reliable, better go to a hardware store and buy a very good one, because the eyes must be protected.

Consider Portability

There may be a need to bring the welding machine from one place to another, which is why it must be easily transportable. Check that the model you have chosen is light enough, with a practical handle on the top and maybe a shoulder strap.

Some models of welders also have wheels. In our opinion, it is advisable to have such a product if you already know that you will have to carry it around.

The Use of The Torch

For correct welding, it is essential to know how to handle the torch. Those who are at their first experience may have understandable difficulties, and the first results may not be satisfactory.

It takes some practice, but there is an exercise that can be of great help. We will explain it to you immediately. What you need are a few 6mm thick pieces of iron.

You have to perform welding. However, without joining the pieces, you have to work on the surface. The torch should be kept at a distance of between 20 and 30 mm, at an angle of between 5 ° and 15 °. The exercise should be repeated until you are satisfied with the result.

A Little Clarity

Trying to untangle the various welding techniques, that is, the operation that allows two materials that were previously separated to be joined together is not so simple because the market offers many, each of which proves more or less suitable for frequency and intensity of use.

Some welders of the best brands, for example, have fewer problems than others to be used every day for several hours a day, while others are suitable for sporadic exploitation.

Therefore, keep these variables in great consideration which, in our opinion, are at the top of the list of discriminants to be evaluated, so as not to run the risk of spending money on a product that is not aligned with your real working needs.

To make a quick overview, you can find devices that use different welding systems: from oxyacetylene to those with the TIG (inert tungsten gas) process to those with the MAG and MIG method.

Precisely the latter are those of which we will deepen the peculiarities, also adding the reviews of the best models on the market, in our opinion. Their operation is linked to the presence of a metal wire that passes through a welding torch, merges, and creates the point of contact between the two materials to be welded.

Safety First

It takes some experience to carry out the welding operations in order to perform them correctly, without taking any risk. In case you are a beginner, our advice is to do some tests before going to work on the pieces that you need to join.

An even more critical aspect is that related to safety, which passes through the adoption of a series of precautions, starting with the type of clothing to be worn.

On the market, all the best brands offer accessories whose purchase is practically mandatory, starting with the mask (often included in the sales package of the welding machine), which will avoid you coming into contact with sparks and which will protect your eyes from intense light.

With and Without Gas

On this page, we deal with MIG welding machines, a category in which the Deca 150E falls. Here it is only worth specifying that the so-called MAG welding type is also possible because the only thing that changes is the gas used: inert in the first case, active in the second.

For both of these welds, in fact, it is the gas that protects the weld pool, preventing it from coming into contact with the atmosphere. With this system, it is possible to weld, for example, aluminum, stainless steel, carbon, and other materials, significantly reducing the production of splashes.

The advantage of this Deca, compared to other welding machines, is that using a special flux-cored wire, it allows you to work even without gas, therefore also outdoors in the presence of wind.

Welding without gas is easier and cheaper, but the results are less precise, especially if it is a question of reduced thicknesses to work. In this case, it is essential to protect your hands with gloves.
