Things to Consider Before Buying Digital Wrists Watches
The Importance of Digital
Analog watches retain a vintage charm that many fans still appreciate, but the innovation brought about by the advent of digital is undeniable.
A digital display is, first of all, more precise because it also shows you the seconds and allows you to consult the time more easily at any time.
In addition, this kind of display allows you also to view different precision measurements linked to features such as stopwatch or clock. In most cases, you can also view the date!
Such a display is also more resistant to impact since there are no mechanical gears that could be too delicate.
If you are fond of analog, but understand the benefits of digital, you could aim for a combined dial, which in short presents characteristics of both styles.
Mechanical or Quartz
A mechanical watch is powered by a spring, which must periodically be manually rewound. The length of the spring affects the watch’s power reserve period.
This kind of watch does not need a battery, and when necessary, you can rewind it instantly. This simple recharging operation represents for many enthusiasts a ritual that they would hardly replace. However, it is undeniable that a mechanical watch is also more sensitive to the weather and delicate.
Digital watches are now almost all quartz, the most precise movement that such a device can have. These watches run on a single battery, and their lifespan is very long. A quartz watch is exact and accurate and certainly requires less maintenance.
You obviously need a resistant watch that knows how to endure every adventure and every stress you want to subject it to. For this reason, you cannot be satisfied with a device made of mediocre materials.
First, you need to evaluate the case, which is a real shield that protects against bumps, damage, and scratches. The most used materials are stainless steel, titanium, or polyurethane. The latter is the most suitable material because it is less heavy than the others.
Even the strap wants its part! Leather or fabric straps are certainly the most elegant, but also the least resistant. They will be the first to show signs of wear.
Of equal elegance is the metal strap, which combines the practicality of the watch with the design of a bracelet. In these cases, most likely, the case will also be made of metal, and the entire eye will be robust for existing.
The same goes for gold or titanium straps: they are definitely resistant, they are hypoallergenic, and they certainly don’t go unnoticed on any wrist!
Some materials are also waterproof or resistant to high altitudes. To find out which ones, you will always have to carefully read the technical datasheets of the products you are evaluating.
These features are particularly useful if you have decided to use your sports watch, or in any case in more extreme conditions. In any case, almost all watches now have a minimum level of waterproofness, and above all, they are resistant to shocks and scratches.
What makes a digital watch unique is the number of features it has. The most common functions are a calendar, stopwatch, alarm, and a compass. Some watches may give you the ability to get more precise measurements, and others may have an integrated GPS function.
If you really feel the need to own all these functions, you should perhaps aim for a smartwatch. Otherwise, if you prefer a “simple” digital clock, you should understand what parts you really need.
In this way, it will be easier to identify an excellent device but, above all, practical and intuitive to use. In addition, a watch with too many functions would also be particularly expensive! The only limitation in choosing a digital watch, therefore, is in the use you want to make of it!
How to Use a Digital Wristwatch
Digital watches are often simpler and more practical than classic analog models, to the point that most of the time, they become the first object of this type that is given to children.
Clearly, and as we have already seen, the market offers articles in this range that have more advanced functions. So let’s see how to use a digital wristwatch.
Adjust the Strap on Your Wrist
The watch strap must fit snugly on the wrist to avoid a scruffy look. At the same time, however, it must not be too tight, not to annoy. You will notice it from the possible presence of the mark left on the skin, in this case, widen the belt.
The adjustment system depends on the type of strap. Generally, when it is in rubber or leather, it is equipped with a buckle for the closure, a rather versatile structure that allows you to adjust the width with ease.
If the wristwatch is made of steel, however, you may need to add or remove links to find the most comfortable fit. If you have no idea how to do it yourself, contact your dealer, a watchmaker, or a jeweler.
How to Wear It
Men and women can wear wristwatch differently. For example, women can wear it wider so that it slides along the arm as if it were a bracelet.
Men, on the other hand, should leave a few millimeters of abundance (about 2 or 3 mm), so as to allow the wrist to move freely but avoid having a too casual look. The ideal would be to leave enough space to put a finger between the wrist and the strap.
Another question could be whether to wear the watch on the right or left wrist. In this case, it depends on your habits, but it may be more comfortable to wear it on the arm that is used less. Left-handed people, for example, should carry it on the right side, so they can write and do other actions freely.
Where to Place the Crate
Several people prefer to hide the watch on the inside of the wrist; in reality, this position is not recommended because it is uncomfortable. To be precise, the case should be placed just after the ulna, or the bone that protrudes on the outside of the wrist.
In this way, not only will it be more comfortable to wear this accessory in the long run (think of those with the most conspicuous and heavy case), but it will protrude slightly from the cuff, giving an elegant effect.
Another small suggestion: do not place the watch above the cuff (unless you are related to the Agnelli family).
Time Setting and Other Functions
The newly purchased watches do not have settings configured, such as the date, time, and alarm, so you need to get down to business. Next to the screen, you will find the “Mode” button, and it will help you manage and set all the data you need.
All you have to do is repeatedly press this button to scroll through the available modes.
Most models have a “Set” button, keep it pressed, and you will see that after a few moments, the data concerning the time will start to flash. Now, with the Mode button, adjust the minutes and hours, repeatedly acting until the desired values are obtained.
These are approximate indications, which can vary from model to model. If there is information released by the manufacturer, we suggest you read it, because you may discover new functions.
For example, it is essential to know whether the digital wristwatch you purchase is water-resistant or not, and how deep you can wear it.
Here we are reviewing the best digital wristwatches. These watch are available in different types and sizes and suitable for both kids and adults.
